Treplus Communities is proud to announce that Redbud Commons, the sister property to Dublin’s Hawthorne Commons senior apartments, is under construction and scheduled to hold its grand opening in late September 2018. Redbud Commons of Pickerington is the second 55+ luxury apartment concept developed by Treplus Communities in Central Ohio. Redbud Commons will offer 95 55+ apartments at 602 Redbud Road near the intersection of Diley Road and State Route 256 (Hill Road North). The senior apartment concept offers single-story, open floor plans with Universal Design features (barrier-free living) and attached garages. Redbud Commons will be similar in design to Hawthorne Commons, with some individual touches that make it purely Pickerington. Treplus plans a third community in Delaware, Ohio to be the third of this unique 55+ rental housing concept.

The 26-acre Pickerington site will have ample green space, a community garden, access to area multi-use trails and Georges Creek.  Redbud Commons is convenient to shopping, parks and recreation and Olde Pickerington Village. A new skilled care and rehabilitation facility owned and operated by Trilogy Health Services of Louisville, Kentucky is being developed adjacent to the Redbud Commons senior apartments site.

Not Your Mother’s Retirement Community

Treplus backs up its motto “Redefining 55+ Living” by promoting a truly independent living lifestyle for empty nesters age 55 years and older. And while there are many retirement communities with heavily programmed features and high fees in Central Ohio, this area is underserved by true independent living 55+ apartments. The demand for condos for rent in the area reinforces this fact.

Given the for-sale housing shortage in our area, there is pent-up demand from Baby Boomers seeking condos for rent in Central Ohio. And the two Treplus offerings—Hawthorne Commons in Dublin and Redbud Commons in Pickerington—fill this need extremely well. The outsized floor plans and luxury appointments are reminiscent of condominiums.

The ranch-style apartment homes have single-story barrier-free floor plans with attached garages and Universal Design (UD) features throughout. With no meals or services included in the monthly rents, residents are free to live their lives as they choose—to travel, recreate, volunteer, work and play without having to follow a pre-programmed, regimented schedule. No senior apartments in Pickerington offer this type of luxury or freedom. The value factor of Treplus Communities as compared with retirement community concepts is excellent—seniors pay only for their housing and utilities and are not locked into charges for features they do not want.

Manager Emily Hulse Knows Baby Boomers “Heart” Pickerington

Marketing manager Emily Hulse is excited about the prospect of managing Redbud Commons. An Ohio native who grew up in Solon, Emily is a realtor who has worked in sales and management in Central Ohio for over 13 years. She has lived in Pickerington for 10 of those years. Emily is a member of Grace Fellowship Church’s Pickerington congregation, which is located just down the road from Redbud Commons. [Brilliant!!!]

As a local girl, Emily’s goal is to help make Redbud Commons “as much of a community as I can, and help people who want to stay in Pickerington find a new home here.” Emily knows that many Pickerington Baby Boomers and empty nesters truly wish to remain living in their community.

“We’ll be implementing resident clubs—built around activities the residents are interested in.” Emily also noted that Redbud Commons will be the center of many events. Dinners, parties, hobbyist get-togethers, games and health and fitness classes can all be part of the Redbud lifestyle, depending upon residents’ tastes and inclinations.

Lee Gray, Pickerington’s mayor, commented that Redbud Commons “provides an excellent option to our aging population to stay in Pickerington…to stay in the community they’ve called home for so many years. We welcome this kind of development, as it’s not something we’ve had a lot of here.”

Embracing the Treplus Senior ApartmentS Lifestyle

Treplus works hard to select sites for our senior apartments that are close to everything, and that feel like home. The Redbud Commons site has advantages of accessibility from State Route 256 (Hill Road North) and Diley Road, but will also be blessed with ample green space, a community garden and access to a multi-use path adjacent to Georges Creek.

Redbud Commons is also within less than 2.0 driving miles to Olde Pickerington Village.  The multi-use path will provide residents access to the Pickerington Ponds Metro Park,  and the quaint Olde Pickerington Village boasts a walkable setting of restaurants and specialty shops, even a brew pub. Residents of Pickerington already know what a jewel Olde Pickerington Village is, and they’ll appreciate the fact that Redbud Commons is an easy walk, drive or bicycle ride away.
